The Karjalohja municipality has always been a cradle of culture. Both Sakari Topelius and Mika Waltari lived here, and even Aleksis Kivi’s home is only 10 km from here.

For the culture hungry, Karjalohja is a dream come true. Once upon a time, Sakari Topelius wrote the children’s book, The Birch and the Star in Karjalohja. A memory of that is the Karjalohja coat of arms, which features a Birch and a Star. The Birch and the Star, along with other characters Topelius created, are also displayed in Päiväkumpu. Come and explore.

Near Päiväkumpu, there are, for instance, Fiskars Village (17 km) and Mustio Castle (17 km), which are “mandatory” sights for the culture hungry. What could be nicer than enjoying the artistic pleasures and afterwards eating well and resting at the spa?
